The new guys have a great work ethic and are proficient in begging for treats, napping on your desk, and generally looking cute.

We spent time in the hipster haven, turned developer heaven, area of downtown Las Vegas visiting antique stores, local breweries, and coffee shops. We tried our luck at Freemont Street on the craps table and lost $100, but won $270 in blackjack after only starting with $50! On the way back, I stopped by the Art Deco Marvel known as the Hoover Dam. The water was awfully low, but the trapezoidal shapes were soaring high!

Last Friday was the 15th annual International PARKing Day, and our Austin studio had a great time re-envisioning two of the parking spaces in front of our office at 905 Congress. Instead of accommodating only a handful of vehicles for the day, our parklet provided a serene respite for a multitude of pedestrians.

We are back from the holiday weekend and have finally recovered from the International 3rd of July Feast that took place at our Austin studio! We asked our team to bring food that felt like home and we were rewarded with an international smörgåsbord of treats! Chicago Dogs, El Salvadorian Arepitas, Iranian Kebabs, Mexican Street Corn, Vietnamese Shrimp Salad, Chilean Empanadas, English Peach Crumble, Local Bratwurst, Bangkok Cayenne Ice Cream, Phil's specialty shishito peppers, Caramelized Bacon, Chips and Queso, Homemade Salsa, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, and Cake Balls, juuuuuust to name a few of the tasty headliners. Despite a summer storm and dramatic lightning show, our trusty grill masters kept the party going! Keep scrolling to see a few shots of our fiesta.

Our own Billy Schaefer participated today at the Contemporary Austin Jones Center's weekly activation: Daily Grind! He discussed diverse possibilities of the design environment; especially those in Downtown Austin and showed us some real ollies on the functional sculptures in Abraham Cruzvillegas' exhibition.

We are excited to announce and celebrate our newest Associates – Lindsay Abati (LA,) Matt Beaton (MB,) and Sandra Saldaña (SS)! Lindsay, Matt, and Sandra will join our firm’s leadership team from the Austin studio. We are happy to share more of our team’s latest spring travels; this time with Lindsay Abati who travelled from our Austin studio all the way to Maui, Hawaii! Lindsay took in many exceptional sights, starting with some amazing tropical flora and scenic volcanic views at Iao Valley State Park. She also visited Twin Falls, where she sampled some tasty and fresh locally-grown fruits. And a trip to Maui wouldn’t be complete without snorkeling with sea turtles(!) at the Molokini Crater! Nelsen Partners recently celebrated the last concrete pour at Watermark! Our Arizona project team enjoyed a cocktail and social hour followed by dinner on the 9th floor, where they got to take in some stunning views of Tempe Town Lake.
