Nelsen Partners purchased and moved its Austin headquarters to 905 in 2002 and began officing at the address after making several small interior improvements. About a decade later, another minor interior renovation was completed. But for years after, the firm recognized that a more extensive renovation of the beloved building would be necessary to support the firm’s growth and create a better working environment more suitable to the needs of the architectural practice. By 2019, the building systems and retrofits, having been operational for several decades, began to meet the end of their lifecycle and were falling far behind the industries technological improvements.
The Hyatt Centric at Congress Avenue in Austin, TX is located steps from the historic stage of the Paramount Theatre and two blocks south of Nelsen Partners’ headquarters studio. The design and form of this 246-room development was influenced by the site’s numerous constraints, making its 43-foot silhouette truly iconic for the historic downtown corridor. […]
905 Congress has been adapted to many uses over the last century. A shoe store, an ice cream parlor, and the editorial offices of the Austin Daily Statesman newspaper are just some of the businesses formerly operating out of this historic building. Click the image above to learn more!
We are honored to receive an award along our team @aquilaaustin and @swattsgroup that represents authentic innovation in our industry. We give a huge thanks to our team at Nelsen Partners for pushing the envelope and delivering an exceptional project that will be providing new opportunities for our communities in Austin.🎉🥇

Our own Billy Schaefer participated today at the Contemporary Austin Jones Center's weekly activation: Daily Grind! He discussed diverse possibilities of the design environment; especially those in Downtown Austin and showed us some real ollies on the functional sculptures in Abraham Cruzvillegas' exhibition.
Travel aficionado Aubrey van Niekerk had the chance to jump on a plane and travel all the way to the old continent; landing in The City of a Hundred Spires! From beautiful colorful baroque buildings, Gothic churches, the medieval Astronomical clock, to breathtaking views while hiking (literally); Aubrey had a blast capturing the magic of […]
This March, our own Daniela Valle had the chance to travel all the way to Australia. During those weeks, she made stops in Sydney and Melbourne; both cities offer amazing cityscapes and design-forward qualities. She found time to relax all while dipping in crazy-stunning beaches, taking-in a visual feast at sculpture park Pt. Leo, and meeting new furry friends. We asked Danny if she brought back some Vegemite to share with us in the studio, but unfortunately, she decided to go with the Tim Tams instead. Check out her 'Straya gallery below!
