We are excited to announce and celebrate our newest Director – Carson Nelsen!
Carson is a Project Designer with experience in multiple mixed-use developments, multi-family and single family residential, retail, office, and hotel projects.
Carson has headed the recent design efforts for The Avenue - Hyatt Centric, a 30-story hotel tower featuring 246 guest rooms in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas. In addition, Nelsen has led design for The Colony, a mixed-use redevelopment project with 1,000 multifamily units, a 200-room luxury hotel, and more than 500,000 SF of retail, entertainment, and office. Carson's portfolio includes other projects like 90-92 Rainey St, Talavera Lofts, Town Square Dubai, Landmark One, Rocky Ledge, and Las Lomas.

- CN: Fay Jones School of Architecture
Favorite architecture style?
- CN: I can’t be sure but someone told me it is brutalism.
What's the most interesting project you've ever worked on, and why??
- CN: Liam Gillick’s sculpture at the contemporary Laguna Gloria. The experience of working with an international artist and working to realize their vision was an interesting position to be in from a design role. He had a candid way of communicating his preferences or opinions, often giving direction with very few words but not always with clear instruction.

- CN: Wood
What famous architect would you like to bring back from the dead?
- CN: Pier Luigi Nervi
When not at work, what are you doing?
- CN: Swimming, enjoying the outdoors and daydreaming.
If you had to be a building, which one would you be?
- CN: A courtyard building
