On a 99-degree Austin afternoon, 227 people gathered to celebrate the topping out of the new 31-story Hyatt Centric hotel at 8th and Congress. With catering provided by Salt Lick and donations of over 6K in gift cards, requisite tree and group-signed steel beam, the collective of companies involved in design, development, and construction marked this event of over 6 years in the making. Designed within a seemingly impossible footprint, this beautiful hotel will feature 246 guestrooms, including a 31st-story Presidential Suite, theater support spaces and offices for the ATA, office and meeting rooms for Hyatt, a fitness center on floor 8.5, an 8th floor outdoor amenity deck with view of the TX State Capital, several bars and a full service restaurant. Rides on the buck hoist were enjoyed by many, as tours of this complex jewel box rounded out a banner day for all involved.
