Kierland
Commons

Nelsen Partners worked closely with the developer Woodbine Southwest to establish a “main-street” development that could serve as both a retail destination, as well as a town center for the surrounding community of north Scottsdale. Boasting over 800,000 sf of vertically integrated high-end retail, residential, office and restaurant space within a 38-acre site, our team was able to create a unique development solution that addressed its desert location using urban planning principles. This project has become the leader and inspiration for retail and mixed-use developments throughout the United States. In 2009, Kierland Commons was only one of ten projects awarded the prestigious ULI Award for Excellence.

  • Services: Master Planning, Architecture, Entitlements
  • Client: Woodbine Southwest
  • Status: Completed
  • Year: 2010
  • Scope: 38 Acres / 800,000 SF
This project has become the leader and inspiration for retail/entertainment projects throughout the United States. Not only is it financially successful, but the unique design of the outdoor environment, the mix of uses, and the attention placed on the scale of the architecture and street widths allows pedestrians and vehicles to co-exist, has successfully created a sense of place for one of the largest growth sectors in the Phoenix region that did not exist before.
